The Arts+Tech programme at MadLab, Manchester is a four month accelerator programme funded by Arts Council England and Innovate UK. The opportunity will allow me to further develop the light sculpture - Focal Perception, as seen in the video below. The piece was created in response to a period of research at Optro-electronics Technology and Incubation (OpTIC) Centre. The centre is responsible for creating the lens for the multi-million pan-STARRS project (Panoramic Survey Telescope & Rapid Response System) located on Hawaii and for the world’s largest telescope to be built by the European Southern Observatory in Chile. During the programme I will be looking into developing the light and lens sculpture to create an interactive immersive experience, the resulting works will be showcased during May/April 2016. Running parallel to this investigation will be the exploration into bespoke lighting.
